Ohio and Erie Canal Corridor Study
Cleveland, Ohio
Cleveland Metro Parks
In the early 1990’s there was a grass roots movement to establish a trail and greenway along the Ohio and Erie Canal that ran over 90 miles from Zoar, Ohio to Lake Erie. One of the greatest challenges was identifying a route through the industrial valley along the Cuyahoga River. In addition to establishing the conceptual route for the trail the study looked at establishing historical landmarks, economic opportunities, and potential recreational spaces. Today the trail through the valley nears completion.
